How to stimulate hair growth on your natural hair journey

Updated: Jun 19, 2020

Everyone wants longer, healthier, stronger hair, but did you know that you can help aid your hair in its growth? There are various products and practices that aid in the growth of hair by stimulating the scalp. Some practices that aid in healthy hair growth include eating a balanced diet and scalp massages. Scalp massages dilates small arteries within your scalp that increase the blood flow to the follicles. Scalp massages can also improve the texture of hair, making it thicker and stronger over time. Apart from scalp massages, there are certain products that, when applied topically, also stimulate hair growth. Below are examples of a few of these products:

1.) Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Jamaican Black Castor Oil works for all hair types. It will help moisturize, thicken, strengthen, and increase hair growth as it increases blood flow to the scalp—thus supplying valuable nutrients to hair follicles. Jamaican Black Castor Oil can also prevent hair breakage, dandruff, eczema and dry, itchy scalp.

2.) Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a growth stimulant packed with more than 20 minerals and an abundance of vitamins like A, C, and E. It aids in hair growth by reducing the overproduction of sebum—an oily substance secreted by your scalp. Excessive sebum can clog your pores resulting in slower hair growth. Due to its antibacterial properties, aloe vera works by zapping oily build-up and allowing your pores to breathe.

3.) Lavender essential oil

Lavender essential oil, with its antibacterial properties, keep the scalp clean and the pores open. It can help reduce dandruff and other issues that can inhibit hair growth. Lavender oil also deep conditions the hair while keeping it shiny and lustrous. When used lavender oil MUST be diluted with a carrier oil such as Jojoba oil or coconut oil due to its concentration.

4.) Rosemary oil

Rosemary oil is known for its scalp stimulating properties; it stimulates blood flow in your scalp whilst also assisting with thinning edges and balding spots. Mix several drops of rosemary oil with olive or coconut oil, and apply it to your scalp

5.) Sage Oil

Sage oil increases blood circulation to your hair follicle. It also aids in controlling excess sebum from the scalp.

With this list of growth aids, you can continue your natural hair journey with some secret weapons at your disposal.
